Parents Weekend is a three-day experience designed to enlighten, engage and ultimately empower parents who play a visible and vital role in the life of Morehouse College. Inviting you back to campus during this dedicated weekend not only allows you to become more informed about the academic community to which you have entrusted your sons, but also provides the opportunity for you to connect with other parents, and, above all, spend quality time with your son particularly as he prepares for finals or perhaps even graduation in the coming weeks. Seeing you on campus and having you take an active interest in his education can often make a meaningful difference in his successful matriculation at Morehouse.
During Parents Weekend, we plan to tackle topics such as "Show Me the Money: Innovative and Effective Ways to Fund Your Son's Education;" "Beyond Commencement: A Candid Conversation on Career and Post-Graduate Opportunities;" "Is there a Doctor in the House?: Your Son and His Health;" and "The Art of Parenting: An Evening of Culture and Connection," to name a few.
PARENTS WEEKEND SCHEDULE AT A GLANCE: The schedule is being finalized, but for planning purposes, please note that the Weekend’s activities officially begin on Friday, April 12 at 8 a.m. (Check-in and Hospitality Suite for Registered Parents) and planned workshops begin at 10 a.m. followed by the Parent- Son Luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Doctors Panel Discussion at 2:30 pm and King Papers Parents Tour from 4-5:30 p.m. For the remainder of the evening, you’ll have time on your own with your son. On Saturday, April 13, the day starts at 9 a.m. (with a continental breakfast) followed by the 9:30 a.m. Annual Parents Meeting where MCPC, President Thomas and his executive team will address parents. The meeting concludes at 10:30 a.m. and the Perfect Gentleman Dress for Success seminar is next from 11a.m. -12:30 p.m. Time on your own in the city or on campus where complimentary parent massages will be available (first come-first served) from noon- 4 p.m., along with a number of Spring Fest and other activities you can choose from with your son. The last official activity of the day is the Parents Only reception from 6-8 p.m. hosted by the President and First Lady. Then on Sunday, April 14, you and your son may worship together and enjoy brunch on your own at one of several fabulous breakfast spots in Atlanta. Before you depart for home, you will be treated to an interactive and irresistible family "sundae" social from 12:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. This fun, finale event will conclude Parents Weekend 2019.
