Dear Reunion Year Alumnus,
I bring you greetings on behalf of President David A. Thomas and Morehouse College with the hope that you and your loved ones are all safe, healthy and well.
As you can imagine, we have thought deeply about how best to move forward with plans for Reunion and Homecoming 2020 in light of the pandemic. Based on guidance from the College, public health considerations and concern for alumni well-being, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone Reunion and Homecoming 2020 that had been slated for the fall.
Our current plan is to welcome all of our alumni from the “0s & 5s” back to campus for a reunion celebration next year in the Spring of 2021 in conjunction with the “1s and 6s”. We’ll continue to share updates as that plan unfolds so that you’ll have ample time to plan your visit home.
We know many of you were looking forward to the event this year, but as much as we would love to be able to recreate Reunion and Homecoming virtually we know even the most inspired virtual programming could never replace the energy and excitement of being on campus with your classmates, friends and family. While some classes did hold successful virtual reunion events this
past May, we will find innovative ways to bring your classmates together online during the summer of 2020. We appreciate your patience and support as we develop these plans to acknowledge your Morehouse milestone.
Let me also take this opportunity to mention the remarkable leadership that your class volunteers have shown, and how disappointing this postponement was for many of them. These volunteers have worked on your reunion tirelessly for many months, and we simply cannot thank them enough for their incredible hard work and thoughtful perspectives. We are truly in their debt and hope you will join us in thanking them.
The External Relations and Alumni Engagement staff will provide more information in the coming months about our plans for Reunion 2021 and Homecoming 2021. In the meantime, thank you for understanding the need to postpone this year’s event. I very much hope we can see you in person in 2021—at this very special place on the red-clay hills of Georgia, where the spirit of Morehouse was born in so many of us.
Steadfast, Honest, True,
